Collection: NDOP - Royal Bamileke weaving
THE Ndop is much more than a fabric: it is a royal fabric, preciously passed down within communities Bamileke from West Cameroon.
Traditionally reserved for kings and high dignitaries, this cotton dyed withnatural indigo, adorned with geometric patterns with powerful symbols, embodies a vision of the world based on memory, spirituality and belonging.
At the house of Studio Matongé, we hunt for and revalue these old pieces to give them a new life.
Each fragment of Ndop that we select has crossed time with dignity: wear, irregularities, faded colors bear witness to a lived history, to ritual or family use.
Our cushions, blankets and wall textiles in Ndop are handmade in Belgium, in ultra-limited series.
THE textured linen, there wool, or the double cotton gauze sometimes come together with Ndop to create a dialogue between raw materials and delicate finishes.
Whether placed on a sofa, a bed or hung as a textile work, each piece transforms the space and tells a story greater than oneself.
