Signed by its knitter, it makes a lovely gift for a new baby or a child, or a keepsake of your own.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eKnitted and sewn by hand by the women of \u003cstrong\u003eKenana Knitters\u003c\/strong\u003e, a social enterprise founded in 1998 by Patricia Nightingale in Njoro, in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Set up to create a market for rural women spinning wool at home, it now supports more than 300 knitters and 200 spinners. The wool comes from small Kenyan farms that do not practise mulesing. Depending on the colour, the wool is left undyed or coloured with plant-based dyes or conventional azo- and cadmium-free dyes.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach piece is signed by the woman who knitted it.
