Hand-woven cotton: material and craftsmanship

At Studio Matongé, we believe the choices we make for our homes matter. Our collections of traditional West African textiles bring together cushion covers, throws, bedspreads and accessories in hand-woven cotton.

Their character comes from the way the material is worked: spinning, weaving and dyeing give each fabric its texture and shades. The cotton used for these textiles should not be confused with the GOTS-certified organic cotton in some of our Kenana Knitters collections. We specify materials and available certifications for each product.

We work with artisans in West Africa who create traditional or reinterpreted patterns, woven or dyed using a range of skills. These textiles bring a personal touch to the home while helping to keep craft traditions alive.
