Chunky loops, a soft feel and generous texture: TANGGOOR is a warm, richly textured artisan throw, hand-knitted in Kenya. It comes in two natural shades — ecru or marl grey — from undyed wool that retains its original colours. Measuring 97 × 140 cm, it is perfect on a sofa, at the foot of a bed or draped over an armchair. A handcrafted piece that brings warmth to a room and invites you to read, nap or simply pause.

Hand-knitted and sewn by the women artisans of Kenana Knitters, a social enterprise founded in 1998 by Patricia Nightingale in Njoro, in Kenya’s Rift Valley. It began as a way to provide a market for rural women spinning wool at home and now supports the livelihoods of more than 300 knitters and 200 spinners. The wool comes from small Kenyan farms that do not practise mulesing; its shades are those of natural, undyed wool — ecru or marl grey.

Each piece is signed by the woman who knitted it. Slight variations in shade or shape make your throw unique — a handcrafted piece made to last and pass on. Find it in our collection of throws and bedspreads.
