The BUUM-ZARI cover embodies a more refined interpretation of vintage indigo. Made from cotton textiles that are hand-spun, hand-woven, and hand-dyed in West Africa, it is then embroidered and assembled by artisans in Belgium, in small batches.
Its deep indigo, with irregular and vibrant shades, reveals the richness of artisanal craftsmanship. Delicate embroidery accents the surface without overwhelming it, allowing the material and structure of the textile to take center stage.
In this collection, the embroidery plays a special role: it evokes the spirit of kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting their cracks with precious lacquer dusted with gold.
Here, the floral patterns enhance the patches on the indigo textile, not to conceal them, but to reveal them and give them new nobility. Each seam, each repair thus becomes an element of the design.
Without fringes, BUUM-ZARI adopts a more architectural and contemporary silhouette. It naturally complements understated interiors, noble materials, and mineral palettes.
Available in several formats — rectangular and square — it allows for harmonious groupings or can stand alone as a statement piece.
Today, the collection consists of two models in tone-on-tone embroidered indigo, BUUM-ZARI and ZABUNI-ZARI. Other pieces with multicolored embroidery will gradually enrich this series.
Each cover is unique: variations in shade, slight irregularities, different placement of patterns and/or embroidery, and marks of time are an integral part of its character.

🌍 KNOW-HOW
Vintage indigo textile from West Africa.
Hand embroidery and craftsmanship in Belgium.
Produced in very small series.
African indigo
Indigo is one of the oldest natural dyes in the world.
In West Africa, it is traditionally applied to hand-spun and hand-woven cotton textiles, then repeatedly dipped in dye baths.
This artisanal process creates deep and irregular shades, the hallmark of traditional indigo.
Over time and with use, these textiles develop a unique patina that gives them all their richness and character today.
To pair with the natural shades of the ZABUNI-ZARI to play between clean lines and fringed finishes.
